Thank God for "Hand-Me-Downs" In October of 2003, my husband and I celebrated our thirteenth anniversary. We have two children ten and seven. As I look back on all the clothing that has come and gone through the doors of our home, it would seem to be enough to cloth five or more families. Which in reality is probably correct, because most of the clothing that my children have worn over the years have been "Hand-Me-Downs" . When they have out grown their clothes and the clothes are not ready for the rage bag, then they are passed on to a new generation. Because of the generosity of others in this process, our clothing budget was greatly reduced. Now as the children get older and have more specific preferences, the process has slowed down some. I am still always thankful for the "Hand-Me-Downs" clothes that my children are excited about wearing. My daughter prefers only pink and purple colors and my son prefers the "cool" clothes. I am still very grateful to family and friends, who saw the importance of the "Hand-Me-Down" process. I continue passing my children's clothes on to the next generation, in hopes this blessing can ease other families clothing budget, as it has ours in the past. Vicki Berchtold |
