APACHE ART CONTEST RESULTS

A reception was held on May 2nd for the 2nd Annual APACHE Art Contest at the Groveland Missionary Church. Sixteen entries were received, 3 in the high school division and 13 in the middle school division. The entries were judged by Judy Crowles.

In the middle school division: Dalton (Pekin) received 1st place for his acrylic painting "Cool Mountain Stream", Jack (Morton) received 2nd place for his wood carving "Howard Hound Dog" and Jamie (Morton) received 3rd place for her photograph "Bovine Buddies". In the high school division: Sophia (Tremont) received 1st place for her acrylic painting "Misti", Ben (Manito) received 2nd place for his drawing "The Popcorn Popper" and Kaytlin (Peoria) received 3rd place with a mixed media picture "Lighthouse Seascape". Best of Show was awarded to Brock (Dunlap) for his collage of photographs titled: "Nature Speaks". Best of Show received $40, 1st place $25, 2nd place $15 and 3rd place $10.

Event organizers, Vicki Berchtold and Lisa Lueken, felt that the evening was a success with over 40 people in attendance. At the event artwork was displayed, refreshment were served and awards were given out. The entries will be on display at the Pekin Public Library for the month May.
