The Mary Davis Home has, within
the facility, a full time eleven month education program.
It is administered by
the Mary Davis Home Superintendent and the Director of Special Education for Galesburg
Unit School District
#205. The classroom is also manned by a Teacher's Aide.
The school program is designed to
provide classroom instruction, tutoring and academic counseling for the
client in detention. The instruction follows the curriculum which the
student will be enrolled upon their re-entry into the public school system or
the instructor will set up a remedial program for students who fall below their
grade level.
Our goal is to educate our
clients both academically and socially. We use a variety of different medias to
enhance learning: television, video and the Internet. We recognize the
differences in ability and needs of the students and always accommodate all
types of learners.
